Who We Are
Established in 1991, Yayasan Bahtera DwipaAbadi (YBDA) was founded by Tay Juhana, who was also the founder of Sambu Group. Sambu Group is considered as a pioneer in global coconut industry and widely known as one of the world's largest integrated coconut companies. It operates in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia.
Indragiri Hilir is currently among Indonesia's largest coconut - producing regions and has always been significantly contibuting to uphold the global reputaion of the country as one of the largest coconut - producing nations in the world. Locally known as the "Land of a Thousand Trenches", Indragiri Hilir are inhabited by people who are hugely relying on their coconut farms as the main source of their regular household income.
Located in the east coast of Sumatera's mainland, the natural landscape of the region is very unique and dominated by the combination of wetland, lowland and flatland. Its geographical condition requires the local communities to use boat as their main mode of transportation hence supplying clean water and electricity for the farmers as well as providing access to education and health facilities in the local villages can be quite challenging.
As a non-profit organization, YBDA commits to always live up the values and passions inherited by its Late Founder that is to always contribute to society where Sambu Group operates in order to benefit the coconut industry stakeholders, especially the local farmers.
